Do you suspect you have a water leak at your residence? Some of the first signs are an increased water bill; a water meter that runs even while water is not in use; and soggy ground, carpet or flooring.
Often there is very little sign of actual water at first, and many leaks are hidden underground. Foundations shift and settle over time, often causing leaks in water supply lines underneath slabs, driveways, and patios.
Water takes the path of least resistance so pinpointing the leak can be very difficult – if not impossible – without professional help.
Want to do a simple test to confirm you have a leak? Set a timer for 45 minutes and during that time do not use ANY water in your home. Check your water meter (usually located outside the home) right before you set the timer AND after your timer goes off. Make note of the reading. If the water meter shows and INCREASE in water usage during that time period, you have confirmed there is a leak.
